An accountant-turned-artist from Sri Lanka.
His journey to becoming an artist is an interesting one. Whilst still a professional accountant, he started designing and selling greeting cards based on the day-to-day lifestyle of Sri Lankans. As his works gained traction, he moved on to the canvas.
He experiments with the refractive effect of light in his abstract and figurative cubism. Early works are dominated by triangles, squares and cubes — seeming to avoid curves wherever possible. The overlapping figures in his paintings were influenced by the Venn diagrams in statistics.
He loves to work in watercolour, oil and mixed media; in sculpture he works predominantly with steel. Over the last four decades he has gained a global reputation as a ‘master’ artist.
